Measuring

 Students in room 3 have been learning about measurement. We started off COMPARING and discussing who is smaller or larger in the class. We also discussed different ATTRIBUTES we could measure: Weight and Height. We also started with a simple measurement activity.

Students picked a different sized library book from our bin. Then they had to measure the Width or the Height. 

But first, they had to ESTIMATE. They were given 1 cube as a reference then asked to come up with an ESTIMATE. 

Then we had to measure to check. 

Next we practiced our measuring skills in our measuring book. 

There were different items we had to measure accurately.

 

Then there was one page where they got to choose something from the class to measure and put their skills to work. 

Next we moved on to our mitten activity. The students cut out paper mittens then chose a length of yarn to join them. 

On one mitten they had to write down their estimate of how long the yarn was. 

Then they had to measure to check. 

On the other mitten they documented their result. Great work eveyrone!
