Sanderson Library

Room 3 took a walk down to the Sanderson Library (our local branch). We met Moira our school outreach co-ordinator. She read us some cool stories and told us all about the Toronto Public Library system.

Did you know that there are 100 library branches all over Toronto?

Not only can you find cool books at the library but you can also borrow: movies, music, comic books and there are even passes to the museum and aquarium that you can borrow to visit them for FREE! Some of our students received their first library card. Make sure you put it to good use! Did you know that you can borrow up to 50 books at a time. If you really  want to get a book you can reserve it online and they will ship it to your local library branch.
Man the library is amazing!

Moira also organized a holiday scavenger hunt for our class.

It was a race to see who could find all the items first!

D and J found the snowflakes.

Some items were trickier to find than others!

T found the sled!

There is always a lot going on at the library. You can check their website to see what programs and events they have.

Sanderson may not be your home branch but you can definitely go check out some of the local libraries. If you can't get out the library can come to you. There are plenty of apps that allow you to access the libraries E-catalouge with your library card. I am a big fan of HOOPLA you can check out their website here: Hoopla Digital
Remember good reading should always be modelled. Not only is it important for students to read daily they should also see you reading as well!
