About me.

My name is Ioannis Gelntis, or as the kids call me MR. G. This will be my 19th year teaching here at King Edward. I have taught for 8 years in the primary division and this will be my 11th year of Kindergarten. I have two school age children myself and I am familiar with the importance of establishing a routine and strong work ethic. In room 3 we try to balance our approach to play based learning by looking for authentic inquiries that come up in children's play. As well as developing skill mastery and what I like to call "bottom power". We encourage students to make mistakes...a lot of them. We do it all the time! The important thing that we stress is that they try. We are not interested in the end result we are interested in the process that got them there. Over the two year kindergarten program you will probably hear your child say that "Mr. G is a greedy teacher!". We actively encourage that because when students are done their task we always ask them for more. To push themselves and persevere a little more each time they try. I am looking forward to being your child's teacher this year. Make sure to check in with the blog and see what we get up to.
