PLAY!

What do we get up to everyday? Well good question! A lot of what we do involves PLAY! We always start the day outside first thing in the moring (unless it is absolutely pouring rain) so dress for the weather. This provides students with the chance to socialize, interact and burn off some early morning energy or jitters. It also helps cut down on our transition times during the winter months (Start practicing those zippers!). Take a look at some of the things we do outside!

Teaching downtown we see the WILDEST things! Have you seen the neighbourhood DUCK! He likes to come by and quack at us on his way to the pond.

Hey its DANIEL! The hardest working caretaker at the TDSB (or at least that I have ever met). Here is Daniel with his fan club hounding him about what he is doing. Don't worry the engine isn't on, but the JK's would rather be safe than sorry.

Some kids just have to MOVE! Running on the track, dancing on the stage, bouncing some basketballs or well...just taking a breather.

The basketball net is always a big hit. In a few weeks before the snow falls we will bring out some of our bicycles and get students building those leg muscles and gross motor skills around the track.

Don't forget the logs and play structure. Have you see what some of these monkeys can do?

The play also extends inside as well....
After our outdoorplay we follow our FLOW of the day. Which is posted on the Whiteboard at the front of the class. We usually break the students up into groups and half of them work in the morning while the other half play. Then we switch for the afternoon.

We switch up the block area to keep things interesting. This month we have DUPLO to play and build with. Don't forget the rules! You shout you're OUT!

The dramatic area is always a big hit! The daycare helps rotate items for students to play with. This month there is a doctor theme. M and L are going over health concerns. I can't divulge anymore due to Doctor/Patient confidentiality.

Of course we have our BINS section. The students can get pretty creative with what they do here....Aliens? Unicorns? I couldn't get a straight answer through all the giggling.

J here is extending his learning and just wanted to practice making some patterns.

N here is playing teacher and practicing the Morning Message.

The connects are always a sought after bin. The students like to make "Trains" out of them and race them around the room. They often compare to see which one is longer and how far they can extend it.
